Turning the right to information into everyday practice

Five programmes, each one built for hybrid delivery in low-bandwidth districts and handed over to local mentors once the cohort is running.

01

Secure Digital ATI Request Network

Objective
Provide encrypted, anonymous-friendly digital tools for submitting and tracking Access to Information requests to local governments.
How it works
Encrypted digital forms and a tracking dashboard that reduce paperwork barriers and exposure risks. Duty bearers receive clear, standardized requests and response tools.
Targets
Citizens (right holders), journalists, human rights defenders, and local government information officers.

02

Citizen Data Analytics Hubs

Objective
Enable communities to access, interpret and visualize public data on budgets and projects at local government level.
How it works
Community-led physical and digital spaces where residents learn basic data analysis, visualization and storytelling using open or disclosed local government data.
Targets
Youth groups, women's groups and grassroots civil society organizations.

03

Multimedia Storytelling Campaigns

Objective
Amplify real accountability stories to inspire action and raise awareness beyond the pilot areas.
How it works
Mobile journalism training, production of short videos and podcasts, and targeted social media distribution of citizen and duty-bearer success stories.
Targets
Community storytellers, journalists and content creators.

04

Local Leaders Digital & ATI Capacity Building

Objective
Strengthen digital literacy, civic-tech skills and ATI knowledge of local political leaders from LC1 through sub-county and town council leadership up to district political and technical leadership.
How it works
Practical training so leaders can disclose information, respond to citizen requests, use digital tools responsibly and model accountable governance.
Targets
LC1 to district political and technical leaders.

05

Inclusive ATI & Digital Security Mentorship Program

Objective
Build a growing network of local champions who can train others in ATI rights and digital safety.
